"Trekking the Indian Himalayas is so different from Nepal, its so pristine, it feels like I'm walking somewhere no-one has ever been before."

Rob Gilling, Australia

Yak Trak

Transformational Journeys to Himalayan India since 1992.

Exciting, challenging, life changing… a Yak Trak Journey is designed to take you to places you wouldn’t normally go!

Our speciality is putting together a travel package with an expert guide in a particular region, and keeping group sizes as small as feasible. This means we often run tours for just a couple of people, and rarely more than 12.

Yak Trak has been leading tours to the North Indian Himalayas since 1992. As a result we have built genuine relationships with the people and places that allow us more than a glimpse of what it is that makes Himalayan cultures so unique and special.

Our preference these days is to design and run custom journeys built to the standards, criteria and price point that serves you best.

Contact us with your wish list (or bucket list item) and we’ll do our best to meet your criteria, and if we can’t we won’t waste your time… we’ll just tell you straight!

Trekking India

The Indian Himalayas offers some of the finest pristine wilderness environments for short and long haul trekking in the world. The diversity of climate, culture, landscape, altitude, vegetation and scenery are simply breathtaking. One day you can be trekking through lush forests with meadows carpeted by wild flowers and exotic medical herbs, and the very next day, sliding down a glacier into a remote high altitude desert region startling with its clarity and lack of vegetation.

The regions for trekking are also spread wide, and as yet are still mostly undiscovered by the trekking world at large, meaning that many of our routes are virtually unknown and certainly uncrowded.

We have an experienced horse team who carry all luggage and equipment safely and carefully on their beasts, never overloading or stressing the animals. We take out all the rubbish we bring in, and we use the latest in high quality european alpine tents, matts and sleeping bags.

With well over 20 years experience in the Indian Himalayas, you won’t find a more competent trekking operation in India than Yak Trak Trekking.
